Compare leasing with rent-to-own using the chart below.
Consider the monthly fees. Most of our competitors will rent you a new trumpet, like the one in our chart, on a "rent-to-own" or "trial purchase" plan at a teaser rate for $35 to $40 for the first three months. However, they will then charge you $35 to $40 per month plus monthly fees. Fees may be called interest, service fees, or maintenance charges. By the time you own the instrument, you will have paid over $1000. A new trumpet is valued at $675 (plus tax).
What if my child quits? Look at the chart below. If your child quits after three months, the cost is comparable. If your child quits twelve months later, after the first year, the rent-to-own program will cost you over three times the lease option.
What if my child succeeds? If your child continues with school music though a second year, the total cost of a trumpet you purchase through a rent-to-own program will cost $1,101. That same amount would pay for seven years of lease fees, or you could purchase the leased instrument or a new instrument from Cadenza at a preferred customer price.
